Position Vacant: Leading Hand – Truck Fit up Section -Motor Body Builder

We are a well-established and growing Motor Body Builder business seeking a highly motivated and experienced Leading Hand to join our team.

About the Role:

This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced workshop environment. The successful candidate will take a lead role in our Truck Fit up Area , working closely with the team and management to ensure jobs are delivered on time and to the highest standard.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise 3 workshop staff on a daily basis

  • Oversee the fit-out of truck bodies and related equipment

  • Hands-on involvement in mechanical and  hydraulic  work

  • Diagnose and resolve hydraulic and mechanical issues

  • Ensure all work meets safety and quality standards

  • Liaise with management, suppliers, and customers  where  needed

Requirements:

  • Auto Electrician experience

  • Mechanically minded with a strong background in truck body fit up with Cranes, Lighting assembly ect  on  heavy vehicle assembly

  • Proven experience with hydraulic systems (essential)

  • Previous experience in a Leading Hand or Foreman role (preferred)

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to interpret tender documents drawings and specifications

  • A positive attitude and strong work ethic

Desirable:

  • Experience in the truck industry or related heavy vehicle sectors

  • Welding and fabrication experience

  • Forklift or HR license (not essential but advantageous)
