For more than 40 years, the North Qld Export Terminal, located at the Port of Abbot Point, has demonstrated its commitment to safety, efficiency, responsibility, and partnership with the local community.
APO has been contracted by North Queensland Export Terminal Pty Ltd to manage operations of it's coal export terminal at the Port of Abbot Point—Australia's northernmost coal port—located 25 kilometres north of Bowen, between Townsville and Mackay, serving as the gateway to the Whitsundays.
Abbot Point Operations has an exciting opportunity for a Training Compliance Coordinator to join our People, Culture & Capability team. This role ensures every member of our workforce is trained, authorised, and compliant to perform safely and effectively.
Reporting to the Manager – People, Culture and Capability, you'll coordinate APO's training compliance framework and maintain accurate, auditable records within the Learning Management System (LMS). You'll partner with operational leaders, crew trainers, and Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) to track mandatory requirements, schedule training, and support compliance reporting and audits.
What You'll Do:
- Monitor compliance against training matrices, authorisation registers, and statutory requirements.
- Maintain accurate and current training records within the LMS.
- Schedule and track operational training programs to align with shift and operational priorities.
- Act as the first point of contact for training compliance queries.
- Prepare reports and audit evidence to demonstrate compliance.
- Support system improvements, data integrity checks, and process enhancements.
What We're Looking For:
You're organised, analytical, and thrive on ensuring systems and people stay compliant. You bring
- Experience in training compliance coordination or learning systems administration (industrial or operational environment preferred).
- Understanding of statutory training requirements for high-risk or safety-critical roles.
- Knowledge of competency-based training and authorisation frameworks.
- Experience supporting audits, compliance reporting, or training system implementation.
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122) or equivalent.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in managing large data sets.
