Medical Secretary/Receptionist - Full-Time, Orthopaedic Surgeon
A leading Orthopaedic Surgeon is seeking an experienced and proactive Medical Secretary/Receptionist to join their team on a full-time basis. Working closely with the Practice Manager, you will be the primary point of contact for patients and play a crucial role in the smooth running of the practice.
The role will be based at Westmead Private Hospital, but you will be required to attend clinics at Westmead, Rouse Hill, and Blacktown on a weekly basis. This is a dynamic opportunity for an individual who is highly organised, resilient, and ready to take on a key role in a busy and growing practice.
What you'll bring to the role:
- Proven experience as a medical secretary/receptionist, with a strong understanding of medical billing and account reconciliation (including Medicare, DVA, and Health Fund Billing).
- Exceptional organisational skills and the ability to multitask and manage competing priorities effectively.
- Strong computer skills and familiarity with Practice Management Software.
- A friendly and empathetic approach with the ability to connect with and support patients, both in person and over the phone.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team, remaining diplomatic and calm in busy or challenging situations.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Managing the reception area and providing a high level of patient care.
- Collaborating with the Practice Manager to oversee the surgeon's schedule and book theatre lists.
- Preparing and processing surgery quotes, invoicing, and managing patient accounts and payments.
- Scheduling and confirming patient appointments across all clinic locations.
- Transcribing and managing patient-related correspondence with other specialists and GPs.
- Liaising with hospitals and other affiliated staff.
- Maintaining strict confidentiality of all medical records and patient information.
