ABOUT THE METROPOLE HOTEL

With over 100 years of charm, The Metropole has been a go-to for generations.⁠ In its earliest days, it was affectionately known as 'the first and last' for sailors stepping onto dry land and quickly became a local landmark. It was a meeting place for miners, railway men, and mariners alike, a familiar face on a changing waterfront. Over the years, it's been shaped by a colourful cast of licensees, each leaving their mark and adding to the Metropole's unique character.⁠ Now newly renovated and ready for its next chapter, The Metropole offers beautifully appointed function rooms, dining and entertainment options for a variety of occasions, along with panoramic views of the marina, Magnetic Island, and Castle Hill. It's ready to be loved by locals and visitors once again.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Met is after a stand-out Duty Manager who is a strong leader with experience in high-volume, face-paced environments. This role will suit a passionate hospitality professional who understands what being hands-on means.

Reporting directly to the Venue Manager, you will be leading from the front and setting high standards, ensuring the smooth operation of the venue. Above all, you'll be responsible for delivering an exceptional guest experience and inspiring the team to do the same.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

To really succeed in this role we are looking for experienced hospitality person that has:

  • Experience managing a large and diverse team

  • Experience working in a high-volume environment

  • Exceptional product knowledge and ability to drive consistency and excellence

  • Business and operational acumen

  • Skills to develop staff around product knowledge, service skills, team culture and guest relationships

  • RSA and RSG certifications (essential)

  • RMLV and Approved Manager credentials (preferred, but not essential)

  • A true hospitality worker who is available on weekends and for late-night shifts

  • A love for exceptional customer service
