Trainee Finance Officer

2025 Traineeship Opportunity – Isaac Regional Council

Location: Moranbah

Ready to take the first step toward a rewarding career in finance? Isaac Regional Council is offering a Trainee Finance Officer position within our Financial Services team, based in Moranbah and commencing on Monday 19 January

Whether you're a school leaver, returning to the workforce, or looking for a career change, this traineeship is your chance to gain practical experience, earn an income, and complete a Certificate III in Business.

About the role

As a Trainee Finance Officer, you'll:

  • Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial record keeping.
  • Support reporting, data entry, and reconciliation tasks.
  • Provide professional customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Complete your Certificate III in Business with full training and mentoring support.

Role at a glance

Type: Fixed Term – 12 months

Hours: Full-time, 72.5 hours per fortnight

Roster: Monday to Friday, 9-day fortnight (hello long weekends)

Who we're looking for

No prior finance experience is needed – just a willingness to learn and a positive attitude. You'll thrive in this role if you:

  • Have strong attention to detail and enjoy working with numbers.
  • Are confident using basic computer programs, including Microsoft Office.
  • Communicate clearly and enjoy working as part of a team.
  • Have completed Year 10 or higher.
  • Hold a current driver's licence (desirable but not essential).
