We're seeking an experienced and hands-on
Transport Operations Manager
to lead the QLD operations for a global logistics leader. Currently experiencing a dynamic phase of growth and transformation the Transport Operations Manager is a pivotal leadership opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced logistics environment, brings structure to complexity, and is passionate about driving high performance across people, process, and safety.
As the key point of contact for all transport operations in Queensland, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day activities while implementing strategic improvements that enhance customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and financial outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership
- Manage end-to-end transport operations across QLD, ensuring service delivery meets contractual and internal KPIs
- Coordinate and oversee both administrative and operational teams across multiple shifts
- Ensure compliance with all workplace safety procedures and regulatory standards
Financial Accountability
- Manage departmental budgets and support financial planning through accurate forecasting, accruals, and cost controls
- Provide timely, accurate data to finance teams to support P&L reporting
- Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining service excellence
People Management
- Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of supervisors, drivers, and support staff
- Drive a high-performance culture through continuous coaching, feedback, and structured performance management
Customer Engagement & Business Development
- Act as the operational point of contact for key customers across QLD
- Conduct performance reviews, manage SLAs, and lead solution-driven conversations
Safety, Compliance & Quality
- Drive a strong safety-first culture across all operations
- Ensure all freight is handled safely, efficiently, and meets customer specifications
- Monitor environmental performance and maintain alignment with quality and sustainability practices
Continuous Improvement
- Champion Lean methodologies (5S, Six Sigma) to streamline processes and boost productivity
- Lead process improvement initiatives (PIPs) that enhance service delivery and operational performance
- Monitor and analyse operational metrics, identifying trends and opportunities for innovation
About you:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a senior transport/logistics operations role
- Proven leadership capabilities in managing cross-functional teams
- Deep knowledge of warehouse, transport, and fleet operations
- Strong financial and commercial acumen, including P&L exposure
- Working knowledge of SAP, WMS, and TMS platforms (preferred)
- Demonstrated application of safety systems and compliance protocols
- Experience in customer engagement, tendering, and service delivery
- A continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to balance strategic and hands-on responsibilities
