Manager, Transport and Main Roads

Are you ready to lead strategic reform in transport corridor management across Queensland? The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is seeking a dynamic Manager (Corridor Policy) to drive the development of corridor management strategies and policy reform. This is a unique opportunity to influence legislative frameworks and deliver high-impact projects that shape the future of Queensland's transport corridors.

In this role you will lead the development of corridor management strategies and projects and provide policy and legislative advice in the context of corridor management across state and local government levels. One of the major tasks will be preparing policy and providing advice to support the implementation of the department's corridor management reform agenda, including managing major projects.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

• Leading and managing a team to develop policy and legislation to ensure the protection of TMR's interests in corridor management. This includes state-controlled roads and other transport corridors.

• Managing research and analysis on corridor policy issues and providing high quality and timely advice to internal and external stakeholders on strategic and operational policy implications of corridor management legislation and policy.

• Representing TMR in stakeholder working groups and committees with representatives from national, state, regional and local government agencies.

• Critically analysing and advising on Commonwealth and State Government policy and legislation which may impact either directly or indirectly on TMR's interest in corridor management.

• Managing projects, activities and conflicting priorities to meet agreed outcomes, deadlines and commitments.

• Preparing correspondence, cabinet submissions and briefings on behalf of the Minister, Director-General and other senior executives.

• Actively participate in performance conversations to build and support a culture of performance improvement.

• Experience in working with team members to develop shared objectives and clear indicators for success.

• Understanding of Queensland's corridor management framework.

• Well developed ability to build and sustain effective working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to develop a range of technical documents, including briefing notes, powerpoint presentations, policy papers and correspondence on behalf of senior officers.
