We're seeking an experienced and hands-on Transport Operations Manager to lead the QLD operations for a national logistics leader. This is a pivotal leadership opportunity within a business currently experiencing a dynamic phase of growth and transformation.
We're looking for a transport guru, a driven and strategic operations professional to oversee day-to-day transport operations across Queensland – someone who thrives in a fast-paced logistics environment, brings structure to complexity, and is passionate about driving high performance across people, process, and safety.
Based in Crestmead this role provides the opportunity to lead transformation, own KPIs, and influence the future of a growing logistics powerhouse.
About the role:
As the Transport Operations Manager – QLD, you'll be the key point of contact for the entire QLD operation, working closely with senior leaders to deliver on business objectives across safety, compliance, financial performance, and customer satisfaction. The role will see you managing operations across 10 sites, approximately 1,000 deliveries per week and with a focus on last mile deliveries.
You'll lead a multi-shift, high-performance team with 3 direct reports and a team of over 70 drivers, executing operations, improving productivity and creating a culture of accountability, safety and service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead day-to-day transport and warehouse operations across QLD
- Deliver on KPIs in safety, quality, productivity, and financials
- Develop, implement and maintain Safe Work Procedures and ensure compliance with OH&S standards
- Manage and mentor a team of direct reports across various shifts
- Ensure accuracy in SAP accounts, cost control, accruals, and budgeting
- Own rostering, scheduling, and leave management for operational coverage
- Lead customer engagement and service delivery, including Key Account Management reviews
- Identify growth opportunities, support business development, and price scope for new work
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives through Lean/Six Sigma methodologies
- Oversee fleet R&M within budget
- Champion a culture of safety, environmental responsibility, and operational excellence.
About you:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a senior transport/logistics operations role
- Proven leadership capabilities in managing cross-functional teams and developing people and teams
- Deep knowledge of warehouse, transport, and fleet operations
- Strong financial and commercial acumen - ability to manage budgets, P&L, and cost control
- Working knowledge of SAP, WMS, and TMS platforms (preferred)
- Demonstrated application of safety systems and compliance protocols
- A continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to balance strategic and hands-on responsibilities
- Demonstrated experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or 5S methodology
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
