Brisbane, Queensland, Australia St Vincent's Health Australia Full time $90,000 - $120,000 per year

Better and fairer care. Always.

St Vincent's has been a leader in Australia's health and aged care landscape for more than 165 years. Since our founders, the Sisters of Charity, opened our first hospital in 1857, our services and nearly 30,000 people have been behind some of Australia's most important medical breakthroughs. We are a microcosm of Australia's health and aged care system and are uniquely positioned to lead and respond to our rapidly changing environment.

We are looking for a special kind of person - a St Vincent's kind of person. Someone who puts excellence, compassion, connection and caring for other people at the heart of everything they do.

The QLD State Manager - Pastoral & Spiritual Care Services is a new role designed to create connection, cohesion and to ensure an integrated, professional Pastoral Care service across all of St Vincent's.

Reporting to the National Director - Pastoral & Spiritual Care, this is not just a management role; it's an opportunity to provide ethical leadership and shape the future of care. You will lead a dedicated team of Pastoral & Spiritual Practitioners, guiding the overall direction and delivery of our services. Your work will ensure that every action reflects the core values of the Sisters of Charity and Mary Aikenhead Ministries. By collaborating with other State Managers, you will help create a consistent, values-based approach that makes a tangible difference in the lives of patients, families, and staff. This is your chance to lead with compassion and integrity, upholding St Vincent's Catholic identity while driving impactful change.

You will also be responsible for ensuring the provision of pastoral and spiritual care is grounded in St Vincent's mission and values, and will maintain strong relationships with the local Archdiocese, clergy, and religious congregations to ensure access to sacraments for patients, staff, and families.

This is a permanent full-time opportunity based across our Queensland hospitals and aged care homes on a hybrid working arrangement.

Things that work for us:

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in pastoral and spiritual care, preferably within a health or aged care setting
  • A minimum of two units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE), with one at an Advanced level
  • A tertiary qualification in medicine, nursing, ministry, pastoral care, theology, or social science is desirable
  • Proven ability to foster an inclusive approach to pastoral care that respects all faiths and cultures
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team leadership skills

Things that work for you:

  • Ability to visibly see your impact on the business and its service
  • Competitive salary packaging options
  • Discounted private health insurance
  • Employee Assistance Program for staff and their families
  • Access to the Fitness Passport (FP)

At St Vincent's we value inclusivity and diversity and acknowledge the importance of creating a work environment that is welcoming, safe, fair and impartial and invites people from all backgrounds to join us.
