The Business Development Manager, Clients and Opportunities will work in close collaboration with the Melbourne Partner in Charge (PiC) and Melbourne based partners to identify client opportunities and pursuits, implement go to market strategies and profile the partnership and office with key external decision makers.
The BDM will be expected to identify and flexibly respond to changes in priorities and ensure effective execution of initiatives.
This role is expected to contribute to growing the firm's market share and profile, client retention and development and new business development initiatives by:
- Providing strategic insight and commercial advice to Partners
- Identifying and prioritising opportunities and working with the partnership to develop and implement cross-practice pursuit strategies, including profiling initiatives where required
- Coaching and preparing partners to pursue opportunities and go to market effectively, including clear articulation of the value proposition
- Championing and demonstrating key behaviours of collaboration, speed of execution, proactivity and accountability in a high quality output environment
- 'Joining the dots' within and across the office, clients and firm to ensure that the firm is best positioned to pursue opportunities in a collaborative fashion
- Acting as the Client Relationship Manager for agreed client relationships
Required skills and personal attributes:
- Marketing degree or relevant business qualification
- Experience in a professional services firm is essential
- Experience in development marketing/business plans is essential
- High value sales experience is desirable
- Strategic and tactical marketing experience
- Sales theory and strategy, including pricing
- Project management and facilitation skills
- Advanced business writing skills
- Advanced presentation skills (oral presentation skills and the ability to present with impact)
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills - able to influence, challenge, engage, and build strong relationships
- Flexible, agile and adaptable
- Solutions focused with a strong proprietary attitude
- Proactive
