REQ Occupational Therapy Level 4 - Rehab Services Team Leader

We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and highly motivated Level 4 Occupational Therapist to join and lead our dedicated team in a permanent full-time role across the Rehabilitation services of St George Hospital.

The successful candidate will commence in March 2026 and lead the Occupational Therapy Rehabilitation Team, consisting of OTs across inpatient rehabilitation, our Day Rehabilitation Unit and our Outpatient OT service; our Allied Health Assistant workforce, our Diversional Therapy workforce, and a robust student education program. Clinically you will be an integral part of the inpatient rehabilitation multi-disciplinary team which delivers an enhanced model of care via the newly established Rehabilitation Cognitive Transition Unit (RCTU) located in the modern Kensington Street Building at St George Hospital. The RCTU provides structured, patient-centred rehabilitation for individuals with mild to moderate acquired brain injuries. Our multidisciplinary team delivers evidence-based assessment, therapy, and transition planning, supporting patients in their recovery of cognition, communication, and daily function. This role will play a critical role in the continuation of care for patients, particularly in our unique position as NSW's leading centre for trauma and emergency care in the State.

We have a strong focus on clinical and leadership skill development and strive to provide consistent high quality occupational therapy services across the campus. Our department consists of 38 occupational therapists, diversional therapists and support staff, and we work across a variety of inpatient, outpatient and community services. Clinically we provide services to aged care, acute surgical and medical, trauma, neurological, rehabilitation, palliative care, lymphoedema and hands patients. We coordinate a robust student program and provide a variety of professional development opportunities. Selection Criteria

  • Qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award and current registration with Australian Health Practitioners Registration Authority (AHPRA) and demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional learning.
  • Extensive clinical experience in Rehabilitation and Brain Injury Rehabilitation within Occupational Therapy.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide high-level guidance, leadership, and strategic management of staff, resources, and services, with a strong focus on building team capability and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel, complex or critical nature.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes while applying evidence-based practice to enhance clinical outcomes within the designated area.
  • Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Current NSW Drivers Licence and willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position.
