REQ Level 3 Senior Physiotherapist Aged Care-Behaviour Support Unit

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Level 3 Physiotherapist to join our dedicated team in a permanent full-time role within the inpatient Aged Care team at St George Hospital.

The Level 3 Physiotherapist will be part of the Aged Care team and will be the Physiotherapy clinical lead in the newly established Behavioural Support Unit (BSU), located in the modern Kensington Street Building at St George Hospital. The BSU provides evidence-based clinical and behavioural support for patients with dementia, delirium, and other age-related cognitive conditions.

Plan, coordinate, and implement in-depth levels of clinical expertise and extensive specialised knowledge within Physiotherapy in order to provide high quality Physiotherapy care to clients of the Behavioural Support Unit and Aged Care Precinct consistent with NSW Health, South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) policies, procedures and standards.

The Behavioural Support Unit and Aged care precinct is dedicated to supporting older people living with dementia, delirium, and other age-related cognitive conditions. Our team delivers tailored, evidence-based care that promotes comfort, independence, and quality of life. The purpose of the Behaviour Support Unit is to stabilise behaviour and safely facilitate the transition of care to an appropriate discharge destination. This role includes responsibilities for supervision, quality improvement initiatives, education delivery to other health care professionals and the teaching of students on clinical placement.

Selection Criteria

  • Qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award and the Physiotherapy Board of Australia (AHPRA) and demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional learning.
  • Extensive post graduate clinical experience in supporting older people living with dementia, delirium, and other age-related cognitive conditions
  • Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, throughout all organisational levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide high level clinical advice, education and support to others in providing service excellence.
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel, complex or critical nature.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes.
  • Demonstrated active participation in developing, implementing, and reporting on services.
  • Current drivers licence (or a willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position).
