The Role

The Deputy Chief Therapist (DCRT) will assist the Chief Radiation Therapist in providing high-level leadership and effective management of the radiation therapy staff and clinical service of the Radiation Oncology Department.

The DCRT will work in all areas of Radiotherapy treatment planning and delivery to ensure patients treatments are undertaken in an accurate and caring manner as well as provide a first-class Radiation Therapy service in an efficient, effective and safe manner.

Selection Criteria

  • Degree in Medical Radiation Science – Radiation Therapy, Currently Registered as a Radiation Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Authority (AHPRA) and hold a current Radiation Licence with the Department of Environment and Climate Control (DECC) NSW.
  • Highly developed communication skills with a strong focus on team development.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills, proven troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, including the capacity to promote initiative within a group, being self-motivated and self-directed to supervise, educate, train, and objectively assess staff in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of radiotherapy planning and treatment techniques and principles, latest innovations in planning and treatment techniques and promoting new developments in radiation therapy.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the importance of Quality Assurance and accurate documentation in Radiotherapy practice
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a senior Member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated organisational and prioritising skills so that timelines and deadlines are achievable.
