As the Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of Mount Gravatt State High School's facilities and grounds.

You will perform a variety of routine tasks independently while receiving supervision for non-routine duties.

This role does not require tasks or repairs that would normally need a qualified
tradesperson and reports directly to the Principal, Business Manager, or nominated delegate.

*This is a progressional position as per the Role Description. The successful applicant will be appointed to the lower classification with eligibility for progression to the next, once specific criteria have been met or demonstrated. Please note salary rate shown is reflective of both classification ranges.*

About the Role

Mount Gravatt State High School is seeking a dedicated Schools Officer (Grounds and Facilities) to contribute to the efficient operation and maintenance of the school's facilities and grounds. This role is essential in ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and maintaining school facilities, including setting up classrooms and halls for activities and events.
  • Performing general groundskeeping tasks such as mowing, watering, planting, weeding, and maintaining sports fields and gardens.
  • Assisting with minor cleaning and waste collection duties, ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety standards.
  • Conducting basic maintenance and repairs to school furniture, equipment, and facilities.
  • Supporting school events, managing supplies, and maintaining accurate records of school assets.

This role would suit someone with a strong work ethic, practical maintenance skills, and a commitment to creating a safe and well-maintained school environment.
