We're seeking passionate and experienced Aboriginal Development Coordinators & Senior Aboriginal Development Coordinators to join our Fortescue People Team. Operating at a People Advisor/Senior People Advisor level, you'll work closely with senior leaders, HR Business Partners, and operational teams to design and deliver initiatives that attract, retain, and develop Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander talent. You'll provide culturally informed case management guidance, lead workforce development strategies, and ensure our initiatives align with Fortescue's values and strategic goals.

This role is instrumental in creating culturally safe workplaces, embedding Indigenous perspectives into our people strategies, and driving development opportunities and organisational capability through key programs such as the Vocational Training and Employment Centre (VTEC), New to Industry (NTI) pathways, and other flagship initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Workforce Development: lead the design and delivery of targeted recruitment, retention, and professional development strategies for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees, ensuring alignment with Fortescue's long-term workforce goals
  • Case Management & Retention: deliver person-centred, wrap-around case management for VTEC and NTI participants, focusing on psychosocial wellbeing, employment stability, and development planning. Monitor progress and intervene early to mitigate risks of disengagement or turnover
  • Program Leadership: oversee and enhance the implementation of high-impact Indigenous development programs, driving continuous improvement and scaling best practices across sites and departments
  • Stakeholder Engagement: build and nurture trusted relationships with Traditional Owner groups, community leaders, operational teams, and HR Business Partners to champion Indigenous inclusion and cultural safety across the organisation
  • Culturally Informed Case Management: provide advanced, wrap-around support to VTEC and NTI participants, addressing psychosocial wellbeing, career progression, and retention challenges with cultural sensitivity and empathy
  • Organisational Development & Inclusion: collaborate with senior leadership to embed Indigenous perspectives into policy, leadership development, and workplace culture initiatives, addressing systemic barriers and fostering cultural competence
  • Data, Reporting & Insights: maintain robust data systems to track program outcomes and workforce metrics, leveraging insights to inform strategic decisions and enhance Aboriginal Development efforts
Qualifications and Experience
  • Extensive experience (5+ years) in Aboriginal Workforce Cevelopment, Community Engagement, Human Resources/People & Culture or related fields, ideally within the resources or mining sector
  • Relevant qualifications in Human Resources, Aboriginal Affairs, Community Development, or equivalent demonstrated experience essential
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including project management, program design, and cross-functional collaboration
  • Proven ability to influence senior leaders and stakeholders to embed cultural inclusion and empowerment strategies
  • High cultural competency and a demonstrated commitment to First Nations self-determination and empowerment
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with a track record of building effective relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and employees
  • Ability to work autonomously in remote or fly-in-fly-out (FIFO) environments, balancing operational priorities with strategic initiatives
