Civmec is expanding its Commercial team to tackle exciting upcoming projects. We're looking for a seasoned Commercial Manager to join our project team, where you'll drive commercial success, foster strong client relationships, and ensure seamless project delivery

You will be a key member of the management team with the opportunity for development and long-term career growth. This opportunity will allow you to add value to the team by using your experience and commercial acumen to drive commercial and project outcomes whilst managing key relationships with project stakeholders. You will enjoy a proactive and pragmatic approach in the management of risk, contractual obligations and relationships between Civmec and its Clients and Suppliers.  

The Role

To provide leadership and manage all aspects of the project commercial and contract functions, including but not limited to:

  • Implement and manage the project commercial strategy across upstream and downstream aspects of the project;
  • Coordinating and leading Head Contract compliance to ensure that notices and claims are communicated within specified timeframes including the drafting and submission of notices;
  • Drive the successful closeout of project variation, extension of time and remeasurement claims;
  • Management of engagement of suppliers and Subcontractors ensuring that risk mitigation requirements are considered and implemented;
  • Provide guidance and training on commercial risks and compliance requirements under the Head Contract and Subcontracts to members of the Project Team and performing the compliance tasks as required;
  • Provide guidance and oversight of project cost tracking and reporting including the preparation of the end of month forecast, cash flow and supplier liability reports;
  • Ensure that systems and processes are implemented to manage and control the recovery of variations and Contract adjustments throughout the course of the project;
About You

To be successful in the role you will possess the following

  • Tertiary Qualification in Law, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management or similar field;
  • Prior experience in a similar lead commercial role focusing on successful project outcomes;
  • At least 5 years' experience in the delivery of major construction / mining projects;
  • Strong, clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal;
