**About the Opportunity**
As the Ship Manager for Austal Defence Australia (ADA), you’ll report to the Project/Program Manager and be responsible for the vessel build aspects of projects/programs, ensuring they are delivered in line with cost, schedule, quality, and customer satisfaction requirements.
The Ship Manager will manage a multi-disciplined construction team and drive performance by utilising project management principles and functional enablement to meet the project’s/program’s commitments.
Additionally, the Ship Manager will provide leadership and coaching to the construction teams to ensure vessel construction is completed safely and to the required quality standards.

**What’s Involved**
- Enable and empower the construction team to deliver to cost, schedule, quality and customer satisfaction standards.
- Utilising Project Management principles, develop a culture of best practise in construction management, project delivery and leadership.
- Identify, develop, and implement a construction plan that will ensure outputs are delivered consistently.
- Develop and performance manage against an approved and baselined schedule.
- Safety leadership.
**You’ll Need**
Essential
- Australian Citizenship required to obtain Baseline Security Clearance.
- 3+ Years’ experience in a Project/Production Leadership role.
- Good management skills and team building capability.
- Good communications skills, and proven stakeholder management ability.
- Competency in Microsoft office.
- Understanding of project management principles including Earned Value Management.
**Desirable
- 10+ years’ experience in the shipbuilding industry.
- Qualification in Project Management.
- Experience in a Project Management role or equivalent.
- A good understanding of Earned Value Management.
- Knowledge of ship operation and management.
- Knowledge of facility management.
