About the business

Yuleba Quarry Products Pty Ltd (YQP) own and operate a specialist mine/quarry 7Km south of the Yuleba township which is situated on the Warrego Highway approximately 60Km east of Roma and 80kms west of Miles. The quarry primarily produces engineered and specialised sands and sand based products as well as decorative aggregates used across multiple industries.

Expansion of the processing facilities to provide specialised products for the mining and construction industry is currently underway and a recent increase in demand requires the Operation to increase the number of production personnel.

The Quarry currently operates Monday to Friday, day shift only, with Operators working a 4 day week (Monday to Thursday, or Tuesday and Friday), however this may change to a 7 day roster with the increased demand.  On site, self-contained, accommodation may be provided to suitable operators. Operators are employed in accordance with the Cement, Lime and Quarrying Award 2020, with above award rates available to suitable candidates.

Position Purpose:

Operators are responsible for the safe and efficient production of sand and other products at the quarry, including the washing, processing, and batch production of specialty sands tailored for the construction and mining sectors. Operators are required to handle the processing equipment and the operation of mobile equipment such as forklifts, loaders, trucks, excavators and ancillary equipment.  Operators also undertake basic laboratory test of the products produced to ensure quality standards are being maintained and the product meets customer specifications.

Key Requirement and Responsibilities:

Essential:

  • Valid High-Risk Work Licence – Forklift (LF)
  • Ability to interpret and complete quality and safety documentation
  • Understanding of WHS and environmental obligations in quarry or industrial settings
  • Have the Right to Work in Australia (Australian Citizen, permanent resident or valid work visa.
  • Pass a workplace medical, including drug and alcohol testing.

Desirable:

  • Excavator Operating Competency (RIIMPO Qualifications or equivalent)
  • Front End Loader Operating Competency (RIIMPO Qualifications or equivalent)
  • Experience in quarrying, mining, or materials processing operations
  • Qualifications in Surface Extraction Operations, Process Plant Operations or equivalent (RII Resources & Infrastructure Industry Training Package)
  • Experience in handling and blending materials used in grout, shotcrete, or construction applications
  • Familiarity with laboratory procedures for sand and aggregate testing
  • Experience operating a weighbridge and maintaining associated records
