Greyhounds As Pets (GAP) is a key component of GRSA's animal welfare strategies, dedicated to finding homes both foster and adoption homes for both retired and non-racing greyhounds and educating the public about the gentle nature of the breed and the opportunities to be involved.

Greyhound Racing SA Limited (GRSA) is the controlling body of greyhound racing in South Australia, conducting, regulating, and promoting the sport from our headquarters at Angle Park. GRSA's primary responsibilities are to ensure the welfare of the industry's greyhounds and the responsible and ethical regulation of approximately 700 licenced industry participants and race meeting activities at its five racetracks – Angle Park, Gawler, Murray Bridge, Mount Gambier and Virginia – through the effective enforcement of local and national rules and compliance policies.

Greyhounds As Pets (GAP) is seeking a motivated Foster and Adoption Officer to join our Angle Park team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Promptly responding to new application enquiries while ensuring the highest level of customer service.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with foster carers and adopters by ensuring regular communication.
  • Work to achieve monthly Key Performance Indicators including adoption targets.
  • Educate and support new/existing foster carers and adopters throughout the rehoming process and provide advice in line with GRSA policies.
  • Assess incoming applications and compare with available dogs to ensure compatibility.
  • Assist in the provision of out of hours on call assistance for foster carers and adopters.
  • Coordinate volunteers as part of the GAP volunteer crew.
  • Assist in the organisation of and attend various GAP events including foster and adoption days, assessments and community events.
  • Ensure administration is completed with accuracy and in a timely fashion.
  • Answer general GAP enquiries both over the phone and face to face.
  • Communicate all greyhound progression updates with relevant industry participants.
  • Work with the Prison Program Coordinator to ensure required tasks are completed and contribute the success of the program.

To be considered for this role you will preferably have:

  • Previous experience in a racing, customer service or sales setting.
  • A background and/or formal training in animal behaviour desirable.
  • Previous experience using CRM tools such HubSpot desirable.
  • A strong work ethic with the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Possess well developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Sound computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • A current Police clearance completed within the last 3 months.
  • A valid Australian driver's licence is required.
  • A level of medical and physical fitness sufficient to be able to perform the inherent requirements of the role.

This position is offered on a permanent, full-time basis and may have a requirement for out of normal working hours availability including weekends.
