Job Description
About the Role
We are seeking a PRIS Readiness Officer to join our Technology division on a 12-month maximum term contract, reporting to the Information and Data Governance Team Lead.
This is a newly created role that sits at the intersection of compliance, governance, and culture change. The PRIS Readiness Officer will be responsible for ensuring RWWA is fully prepared for the commencement of the Privacy and Responsible Information Sharing Act 2024 (WA), as well as maintaining compliance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
In this role, you will:
- Shape organisational readiness by implementing and embedding RWWA's Privacy and Information Sharing Frameworks.
- Act as a trusted advisor, providing guidance and training to staff and leaders on privacy obligations, responsible information use, and information sharing best practices.
- Promote culture change by fostering awareness of privacy-by-design and responsible information sharing principles across projects and business processes.
- Drive continuous improvement by monitoring legislative developments, identifying gaps, and recommending enhancements to compliance and governance frameworks.
This role is a rare opportunity to take ownership of RWWA's readiness for significant new legislation. You will be directly influencing how the organisation protects personal information, builds trust with the community, and responsibly shares information to improve services and outcomes.
Qualifications
About You
You are a compliance professional with a passion for privacy and ethical information use. You combine technical expertise with strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, enabling you to advise, influence, and build capability across the organisation.
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- Minimum 2 years' experience in privacy compliance, information governance, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of the Privacy and Responsible Information Sharing Act 2024 (WA) and the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
- Experience in conducting PIAs and responding to privacy requests (highly regarded).
- Knowledge of information governance, data security, and ethical information sharing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex information.
- A collaborative, values-driven approach, aligned with RWWA's Culture Playbook: Respect, Accountability, Connection, Excellence.
- Experience within a regulated or public sector environment will be highly regarded.
