We are JOY, an independent full-service agency filled with talented people that deliver across Brand Strategy, Media, Creative and Production. We are looking for an Account Director to work on the biggest beauty brand in Australia, Mecca.
Along with being a beauty-aficionado (), the role will suit an experienced Senior AM or Junior Account Director ready to step into a client leading role. You will be reporting into a Business Director and supported by a Manager and Coordinator.
With a strong background in client management and media planning, you will be responsible for day-to-day client relationship, ensuring the highest quality of service and campaign delivery to achieve business goals across all media channels.
This is an opportunity to work in a highly elevated agency-client relationship. You will have a strong voice at the table and be seen as a valued extension of the client's marketing team.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Comprehensive client management experience in media, with a strong digital planning background
- Initiative to lead projects with confidence and passion
- Strategic planning capabilities and a good understanding of media fundamentals
- People leadership experience – you'll have a team of two direct reports, plus dotted lines to wider team resource
- Excellent relationships with media partners
- A desire to work in true collaboration with clients and creative teams to deliver holistic marketing campaigns that deliver business results.
What you will need to bring to the table
- A strong foundation in media fundamentals. What works, how it works best and why.
- Experience in cultivating great relationships with media partners and clients to deliver exceptional service and media implementation planning work.
- Holistic channel planning experience– Digital, SEM, Social , OOH and TV , Radio – you will have worked / had exposure across all channels and understand a full got-to-market solution. In platform experience would be beneficial but not mandatory.
- Finance and admin excellence – you'll appreciate that this detail is important for clients and to operate our business effectively, and therefore have a strong attention to detail and understanding of client financial management.
- Natural interest and understanding of people, behaviours, decision making etc. You will talk to your audience target to understand their real drivers and apply to your work.
- Experience in using a range of media/communications tools (e.g. Roy Morgan)
- The ability to create and strongly deliver a well-structured, persuasive and interesting presentation
- 4+ years experience
The Nuts and Bolts Job Description
Headline responsibilities
- Producing work in the JOY style that delivers outcomes for clients
: client management and media planning. You are responsible for the day-to-day client relationship, ensuring the highest quality of service and campaign delivery to achieve business goals across all media channels - Leading a high functioning and inspired team
: direct reports will be Account Manager, Account Coordinator and you are responsible for their growth and development, overseeing and supporting work output. - Be seen as a credible media expert
: You will work closely with the Business Director to ensure that the JOY product delivery for clients is superior quality and best in class. - Be an active contributing member of the agency – add joy to JOY
: actively contributing to the wider JOY team & agency culture, representing values with professionalism
Key Tasks:
- Manage the business for Mecca and be a key contact for media communication. Build and develop solid and influential relationships with your clients. Develop a deep understanding of your client's category to have an enhanced understanding of their communication needs.
- Anticipate clients' business needs and proactively approach them with media solutions to help grow their business
- In collaboration with strategists develop recommendations in line with business strategy – the business is digital centric so a strong background in digital and social is key
- Ensuring that the campaign is informed by genuine insights and delivers on key objectives.
- Work closely with business leads to identity opportunities for diversified services
- Knowledge and understanding of marketplace trends and developments and their implications. Ensure this is communicated to staff and clients
Finance, admin & reporting
- Manage the preparation of client documentation and financial reconciliation across client business
- Budget management
- Monitor client expenditure versus campaign MBA sign offs
- Approve and analyse all client account queries and ensure these are answered within agency guidelines.
- Ultimately responsible for managing the accurate and timely delivery of media reporting
Internal Collaboration & Team Management
- Guide and develop junior staff members in your team, sharing your knowledge, mentoring, and overall fostering a collaborative team environment of enthusiasm and success.
- Help lift the overall standard of media practice within the agency through up-skilling of the other team members
- Manage the workflow of the group to ensure that tasks are delivered on time and the team are continually learning
- Coordinating the integration of connections within the different agency functions e.g. Strategy, creative, buying to ensure cohesive service delivery
