Job description:

  • Support the Head Chef in leading, motivating and mentoring the kitchen team to achieve top level production and service performance with cohesive teamwork.

  • Assume total responsibility of service in the absence of the Head Chef.

  • Cook and prepare food in a timely manner and to a consistently high standard.

  • Ensure meals are prepared consistently in portion size, taste and appearance.

  • Coordinate food orders and ensure timely delivery of dishes to customers.

  • Co-create and update the menu in collaboration with the Head Chef and restaurant manager, considering seasonal availability of ingredients, customer preferences and budgets.

  • Develop new recipes and refine existing ones to enhance the dining experience.

  • Stay abreast of culinary trends and food preparation procedures.

  • Monitor duties and operations of kitchen and report any issues to the head chef.

  • Comply with and enforce sanitation regulations and safety standards.

  • Resourcefully solve any issues that arise and seize control of any problematic situations.

  • Assess staff's performance and adhere to performance monitoring procedures.

  • Oversee inventory management and procurement of food and supplies.

  • Train and mentor kitchen staff to improve their culinary skills, techniques and knowledge.

  • Perform at a high level and be an example for team members

Qualifications/Attributes:

  • Must hold a Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or higher, or at least 3 years of relevant work experience in lieu of the qualification

  • Must possess at least 2-3 years of relevant work experience.

  • Have outstanding communication and leadership skills.

  • Must have the willingness to collaborate with other colleagues.

  • Must be obsessed with cooking, including unique and emerging trends.

  • Must have good planning and organisational skills.

  • Ability to adapt and work in a fast-paced environment.

Salary Range: $70,000 - $75,000 p.a. excluding superannuation.
