This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team working on the rehabilitation of the former Rum Jungle Mine Site, located in the Northern Territory.

Nestled alongside the pristine Litchfield National Park, rehabilitation of the Rum Jungle Mine site will showcase leading practice techniques and an evidence-based approach.

The successful candidate must have demonstrated experience in handling complex projects and agility in managing tight timeframes.

Tertiary Qualifications in a relevant science, environmental management or engineering field are essential, as well as demonstrated experience in environmental management, preferably in the mining or rehabilitation sector.

The position will be overseen by the HSE Director and supported by a dedicated Technical and Field Officer and a HSE Technician. Together, this team will ensure the successful implementation and continuous improvement of high-quality HSE programs for the Rum Jungle Rehabilitation Stage 3 project. Key responsibilities include monitoring a wide range of environmental and safety metrics, managing revegetation and remediation initiatives, conducting thorough investigations to support legal and regulatory compliance, and preparing detailed, evidence-based reports to inform stakeholders and guide project decisions.

Candidates should have proven experience delivering results within set schedules, utilising various systems and reporting tools to effectively manage regulatory requirements and achieve established outcomes. Expertise in spatial database use and management is essential to support accurate environmental monitoring and data analysis.

Additionally, significant experience in complex problem-solving is required, including the ability to interpret and integrate information across diverse scientific and engineering disciplines. This role demands a holistic approach that considers social factors and employs risk-based decision-making methodologies to ensure sustainable and compliant project outcomes. Coordination with contractors and regulatory bodies to uphold best practices in health, safety, and environmental management will also be a key aspect of the role.
