About the Role:
We are currently looking for applications for a WHS & Rail Safety Manager to join our rail and transport business. The role will support the region with the implementation of WHS Systems strategies and programs as well as driving the ongoing development of an effective safety culture. It can be based in NSW or QLD offices.
Key Responsibilities:
-Provide technical direction, coaching and guidance to project based WHS and Rail Safety representatives ensuring continued growth in the capability and productivity of the function
-Support the business unit to further develop a culture focused on WHS excellence and business improvement
-Support the implementation of WHS and Rail Safety strategies, systems and initiatives across the region and report progress to regional and business unit leadership teams.
-Ensure that the business unit maintains robust WHS and Rail Safety risk management processes, capability, focus and discipline.
-Oversee and govern the accuracy and quality of investigations for all Class 1 & 2 incidents, including actions to prevent future occurrences.
-Provide governance over the company WHS systems utilisation and effectiveness within the business unit, ensuring that leadership representatives are informed of activities, outcomes and areas for improvement
-Provide specialist WHS and Rail Safety advice and input during tendering, project planning and project delivery.
-Ensure comprehensive records are maintained, manage company and statutory WHS reporting requirements, and provide analysis to drive focus and continuous improvement.
-Develop positive relationships with key stakeholders including Government Agency representatives.
-Represent Rail & Transport, provide input and support broader business wide WHS initiatives.
-Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all relevant legal, regulatory and company requirements associated with WHS and Rail Safety; ensuring management and staff are informed of any relevant changes and their impacts.
-Review specific high-risk planned works to be undertaken to ensure compliance with the method of work
What we are looking for:-Bachelors' degree (or equivalent) in Science, Safety, Environment Management, Sustainability and/or other associated disciplines.
-Post graduate qualifications in relevant other disciplines such as Safety, Environment, Project Management or Risk.
-Safety Lead Auditor Qualification, Internal Environmental Auditor Qualification, Diploma of Quality Auditing.
-Experienced WHS Practitioner in Rail/Construction with strong onsite experience.
-Thorough understanding of the relevant Rail Safety legislation and regulatory bodies
-Passion for driving change and governance across Rail projects.
-Generalist Quality Management experience.
-Solid knowledge and application of Audit Management practices.
-Experience driving project system implementation.
-Strong demonstrated experience in Stakeholder engagement including internal and external parties.
-Ability to travel across projects across the region.
