About Greenway Views

LDK Seniors' Living's flagship village, Greenway Views, is in Greenway, Tuggeranong in Canberra, opposite the South Point shopping centre and walking distance to the Tuggeranong town centre. The village consists of 327 apartments, spread over five buildings that is about half a kilometre long from end-to-end. Greenway Views is home to nearly 400 residents over the age of 65. The village has over 6,000 square metres of communal space facilitating social connectedness and a vibrant village community. LDK delivers lifestyle-for-life through a variety of age-friendly facilities, amenities and activities for both independent and non-independent residents. On-site facilities include a gym, art centre, chapel, dance room, theatre, library, several hospitality outlets, village shed, barber shop, hairdresser, medical consultation room, grocer, purpose designed meeting spaces and a dog park.

About the Role

The Sous Chef, reporting to the Executive Chef, will provide a range of comprehensive and sound kitchen duties, always ensuring a high level of hygiene standards.

The successful candidate will work the following:

Monday to Tuesday 0800am - 1500pm

Wednesday 1100am - 2000pm

Thursday 0700am - 1400pm

Friday 1100am - 2000pm

Role Responsibilities

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Developing recipes, food presentation and designing menus
  • Assist cooks/chefs in cooking a range of meals, under their general supervision including the assembly

    and preparation of ingredients/food for cooking
  • Assist in overseeing the kitchen and managing food costs
  • Assist in overseeing the kitchen and maintenance of stock levels
  • Portion, present and serve food to customers, demonstrating a high standard of customer service
  • Undertake all duties in accordance with food safety and hygiene legislation, regulations, and

    standards, including those specifically relating to the service of food to vulnerable persons and other

    relevant LDK quality and service standards

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

  • Cert III in Kitchen Operations or Cert II in Hospitality (or experience deemed equivalent) (desirable)
  • Food Handlers Certificate (desirable)
  • CPR/First aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Demonstrated understanding of food handling and hygiene principles
  • Technically sound cooking skills with modern approach
  • Demonstrated knowledge of State Food Safety Regulations (or willingness and ability to learn)
  • Previous experience in commercial catering or other food services
  • Previous experience in the provision of meals from fresh to product (desirable)
  • Awareness of the dietary requirements of the elderly (desirable)
