Primary objective
Responsible for managing the operations of the Frances Bay Marine Facilities ensuring the business operates safely,
smoothly and efficiently and in accordance with public sector and business processes. The Frances Bay Marine Facilities
comprise the Frances Bay Mooring Basin, Fisherman's Wharf, Raptis Wharf, Hornibrooks Pontoon and Careening Poles and
Sadgroves Creek Moorings.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Manage the functions and operations of the Frances Bay Marine Facilities comprising management of service delivery,
budget, asset, finance, staff, client and incident management aspects of the business.
2. With support from relevant departmental staff, ensure the Frances Bay Marine Facilities operate in accordance with
established public sector and business processes.
3. Provide leadership and utilise contemporary management skills to provide advice and support staff to build effective
team relationships, achieve multi-skilling and manage change effectively.
4. Provide operational and strategic policy advice to executive and the public on the operation and management of the
Frances Bay Marine Facilities.
5. Update, monitor and deploy, when required, Emergency Management Plans such as the environment management plan,
cyclone management and emergency and crisis management.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Proven experience in staff supervision and team leadership including the ability to coach, counsel and motivate staff,
instilling a culture of teamwork and accountability.
2. Ability to provide high level policy and operational advice to government, industry and the public on maritime industry.
3. Extensive experience in applying and interpreting legislation and processes, preferably related to responsibilities as a
landowner and the marine industry.
4. Well-developed oral communication skills with the ability to work in partnership and collaboration with a range of
stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
5. High level written skills with proven experience preparing business plans, submissions and reports to a variety of
audiences.
6. Strong project and contract management capability and negotiation skills, with the ability to achieve desired outcomes.
7. Knowledge of Work, Health and Safety procedures and relevant legislation including emergency planning and
operations such as cyclone plan, oil spill, environmental and chemical hazards.
