Primary objective

Provide high level advice and support on workforce management matters to Northern Territory Public Sector agencies to assist

them with management of their human resources, in particular case management.

Context statement

Workforce Services are delivered to client agencies under a centralised services model across a geographically and culturally diverse

environment. The Workforce Management team provides support across a range of areas including Employee Relations,

Performance Management, Conduct, Workplace Disputes, Work Health Management, and General HR Support. This position sits

within case management providing expert advice in inability, workplace disputes, unsatisfactory performance and conduct matters,

adopting an evidence-based approach.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Provide high level Workforce Management advice, guidance and coaching to clients on a range of workforce matters.

2. Manage and provide advice on complex workplace issues such as disputes/grievances, discipline, medical, investigations and

inability, recommending appropriate courses of action for resolution and early intervention strategies.

3. Develop and maintain effective partnerships with clients, HR providers and other stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of

business objectives.

4. Undertake analysis of agency people matters and HR data to inform and develop effective solutions.

5. Collaborate in the development of contemporary HR management strategies, policies, procedures and internal documentation

aligned to corporate objectives, legislation and public sector initiatives including presentations.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Extensive experience and contemporary knowledge of strategic HR case management and early intervention strategies.

2. High level communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills with the ability to establish collaborative relationships at all

levels to positively influence human resource practices.

3. Demonstrated planning, problem solving and organisational skills, including the effective management of multiple complex and

high priority case management matters to meet conflicting deadlines and timeframes.

4. Well-developed conceptual and analytical skills including experience in interpreting and applying legislation.

5. High level written skills and the ability to analyse information for preparing a range of complex correspondence/documents.

6. Experience in managing and providing advice on complex HR case management matters including leading high-level meetings.

7. Demonstrated work ethic and attitude, which emulates DCDD values of being professional, accountable, honest, innovative

and respectful.

Desirable

1. Relevant qualifications in human resources or a related field.

2. Knowledge and understanding of employment legislation as it relates to Northern Territory Government employees or ability

to obtain.

2. Case manage highly complex workplace issues such as disputes/grievances, discipline, inability and performance management

matters and when required undertake investigations, recommending appropriate courses of action for resolution and early

intervention strategies.

  1. Triage case management workload within the team, allocate matters to the team and manage timeframes and client expectations.
  2. Have responsibility for managing a team, ensuring expertise is provided in a timely manner to clients.
  3. Develop and maintain effective partnerships with clients, human resource providers and other stakeholders to ensure successful

delivery of business objectives.
