Job Description:
The National Sales Manager will drive growth across Australia by leading sales strategy, key account management, and retail execution. This role combines high-level strategy with hands-on leadership to deliver results across Funrise's core brands and licensed properties.
The role reports to the Country Manager and requires a leader adaptable and capable of quickly developing both high level and grass roots relationships across Funrise's retailers, distributors, local licensors and other business partners where necessary. All activities will be in line with corporate objectives including, but not limited to strategy, formulating the region's sales plans with tangible KPI's, forecasting, inventory management, working within territory marketing budgets. The role demands experience working with mass retailers (Kmart, Big W, Target, Amazon) and distributors as well as understanding eCommerce and omnichannel sales environments.
All activities will be in line with corporate objectives including, but not limited to strategy, formulating the region's sales plans with tangible KPI's, forecasting, inventory management, P&L ownership, and working within territory trade marketing budgets.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute the national sales strategy, with a focus on both retail and eCommerce/omnichannel growth.
- Review market performance by brand, category, and customer to identify new opportunities.
- Build annual forecasts aligned to Funrise's rolling 3-year growth plan, ensuring P&L accountability.
- Negotiate trading terms, in-store activations, and catalogue promotions with major accounts (Kmart, Target, Big W, Amazon, etc.).
- Ensure product placement and promotions reflect global brand guidelines while remaining locally relevant.
- Explore alternative channels (grocery, convenience, specialty) to expand market presence.
- Manage inventory and stock flow across retail, distribution, and eCommerce channels.
- Oversee order fulfilment with 3PL partners and coordinate with Asia merchandising teams for FOB shipments.
- Drive sell-in and sell-through strategies using sales analytics.
- Lead, coach, and motivate the sales team with clear KPIs and regular performance reviews.
- Foster collaboration with cross-functional teams (marketing, operations, logistics finance).
- Represent Funrise at key trade shows and customer events.
- Travel domestically and internationally as required.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of senior sales/account management experience in toys or consumer products, with proven success managing top-tier retailers and distributors.
- Fluent in English.
- Proven track record of delivering sales growth, driving P&L outcomes, and achieving KPIs.
- Strong negotiation skills with experience shaping trading terms, promotions, and joint business plans.
- Ability to interpret data and apply sales analytics for forecasting, performance tracking, and decision-making.
- Experience leading and motivating high-performing teams with a results-driven culture.
- Deep understanding of eCommerce and omnichannel sales environments.
- Strong commercial acumen, entrepreneurial mindset, and ability to spot and act on new business opportunities.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
