Technical Sales & Application Engineer (Transformers)

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated
Technical Sales & Application Engineer
to join our team. This role bridges engineering expertise with customer engagement, ensuring that our clients receive technically sound, commercially competitive transformer solutions tailored to their project requirements.

The position involves working closely with customers, consultants, and internal engineering teams to provide application support, prepare technical/commercial offers, and deliver high-quality service throughout the sales cycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Support & Applications
  • Understand customer specifications and application needs for distribution and specialised transformers
  • Select transformer configurations and provide customised technical solutions
  • Prepare accurate transformer datasheets, drawings, and supporting documentation for client review

  • Liaise with internal quotation teams to ensure proposals align with manufacturing capability

  • Sales & Customer Engagement

  • Develop strong relationships with EPC contractors, utilities, OEMs, and industrial clients
  • Prepare and present technical/commercial proposals, tender responses, and solution presentations
  • Assist project manager with pre-award contract terms and validate technical requirements through to contract award

  • Support business development by identifying new opportunities and markets

  • Project Management

  • Oversee project timelines and deliverables to ensure on-time, quality execution
  • Track risks, action items, and technical clarifications across internal teams and clients
  • Support factory acceptance tests (FAT) and technical discussions

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in
    Electrical Engineering
    or related discipline.
  • 1–5 years' experience in
    transformer design, application, or power system engineering
    (distribution/power transformers preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of transformer standards (IEC, AS/NZS, IEEE/ANSI) and customer specifications
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to clients
  • Proficiency in MS Office; exposure to AutoCAD, ERP/CRM systems is an advantage
  • Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and customer-service orientation
