About the role
Back Row West - Wynyard
An Italian Eatery in the Sydney CBD. A Sous Chef is required, you will play a vital role in supporting the Head Chef and overseeing the kitchen operations in this fast-paced, dynamic environment. This is a full-time position based in our Wynyard location.
What you'll be doing
- Assist the Head Chef in planning and executing creative, high-quality menu items and catering
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating
- Supervise and train kitchen staff, ensuring consistent and efficient service
- Maintain strict food safety and hygiene standards
- Collaborate with the team to continually improve kitchen processes and workflow
- Assist with inventory management and ordering of supplies
- Work closely with the front-of-house team to ensure exceptional customer service
What we're looking for
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience as a Sous Chef or equivalent role in a high-volume, fast-paced cafes/restaurant environment
- Formal culinary training or qualifications
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work well under pressure
- Thorough understanding of food safety regulations and kitchen best practices
- Creativity and passion for crafting innovative, delicious dishes
