YOUR ROLE

The Payroll Officer plays a vital role within the Shared Services team, supporting MACS schools and governing bodies to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, employee record management, and compliance with legislative obligations.

Reporting to the Senior Payroll Officer, the role is responsible for end-to-end payroll tasks, including onboarding, salary packaging, leave calculations, superannuation, PAYG tax processing, and month-end reconciliations.

You will be working in a collaborative environment, delivering high-quality payroll services to stakeholders while upholding MACS's values and commitment to excellence in education.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Process end-to-end payroll in alignment with MACS policies, Awards, and Enterprise Agreements.
• Manage employee lifecycle events including onboarding, changes, and terminations.
• Administer salary packaging, superannuation, PAYG, and external deductions.
• Calculate entitlements, back pays, leave loading, and pro-rata holiday pay.
• Validate data entries and payroll reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare and reconcile payroll deductions, creditor journals, and month-end reports.
• Provide payroll support and advice to MACS schools and internal stakeholders.
• Maintain employee records in the eHR system and ensure data integrity.
• Contribute to continuous improvement in payroll processes and documentation.

ABOUT YOU

• You bring extensive experience in payroll processing, including interpreting employment agreements and calculating entitlements.
• You have strong attention to detail and data accuracy, with a commitment to confidentiality.
• You are familiar with payroll systems (TechnologyOne desirable) and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• You are confident working independently, while contributing effectively to team outcomes.
• You have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to support school-based and office stakeholders.
• You are highly organised and can meet deadlines in a high-volume, compliance-driven environment.
