Hobart, Tasmania, Australia Laconic Partners Full time $60,000 - $90,000 per year

Location: Hobart or Launceston, TAS

Employment: Casual, part-time, full-time (negotiable)

About us

Laconic (adj.) Explaining complex problems in a concise and uncomplicated way.

Laconic is a Tasmanian Business Improvement Agency and our unique perspective has been developed over many years working both 'in the business' operationally and 'on the business' strategically, implementing a range of business diagnostics and continuous improvement techniques.

We deliver business improvement, portfolio prioritisation and governance, end-to-end strategic advisory services and much more to our clients, who include some of Tasmania's most-respected organisations.

We saw a gap in the consulting market for providing wholistic services that are not just focused on commercial outcomes and project management. Our core engagement approach is informed by a deep understanding of the problem and the strategic environment that our clients are facing.

Our innovative way of thinking allows us to achieve outstanding results and exceed our client's expectations.

About the role

The Analyst role at Laconic will be balanced across working 'on the business' completing activities to support Laconic's growth including analytical tasks such as market research; and working 'in the business' on engagements with our clients to assist them achieving their goals. The Analyst role provides a pathway into more senior roles within Laconic based on performance.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake analytical tasks to support Laconic's growth and client engagements
  • Assist with business development, bid writing and tender submissions for Laconic and Laconic's clients
  • Work with Laconic's clients on varied engagements to appropriate quality standards.
Engagements range from business improvement and strategy to corporate governance and project assignments across multiple settings and industries.
  • Prepare clear, compelling presentations to communicate insights and influence stakeholders, including draft reports, dashboards and summaries
  • Attend networking and business development activities including conferences from time to time, these may be outside normal business hours
  • Assist with scheduling meetings, managing deadlines, and coordinating marketing activities.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities when required
  • Engage in continuous improvement activities and professional development
  • Use Excel, Power BI, or similar tools for data visualization and reporting
  • Assist in maintaining shared knowledge repositories and templates
  • Work collaboratively with Laconic Directors and Clients as required
  • Provide support for small administrative tasks and other duties as reasonably assigned
  • Assistance with other analytical tasks as required

Skill and experience

  • A degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Law or other business-related qualification (postgrad qualifications such as CA or CPA highly regarded)
  • 3-5 years postgraduate experience
  • Use of Microsoft365 tools (specifically Excel) is highly desirable
  • Training in business analysis, Lean Six Sigma, project management, change management, strategy or other disciplines is highly desirable
  • Strong analytical skills and a commercial mindset
  • Propensity to truly challenge the status quo
  • Proven ability to innovate and identify opportunities to improve
  • Strong influencing, communication and interpersonal skills and high-level facilitation and presenting skills (or ability to acquire)
  • Ability to work in ambiguous and uncertain environments
  • Australian Drivers Licence
  • Be willing to travel intra and interstate from time to time

Our offer

  • A very attractive remuneration package for the right candidate
