About the Role

Team background

This is a newly created position responsible for driving our business development (strategy and execution) in the Australian market. You will build and lead our Australian go-to-market team, including the immediate management responsibility for our existing BD team members.

Who we need

An individual with a deep understanding of how renewable energy projects get done in the Australian market, with that perspective gained through a track record of success in the industry. We need a leader who can define, refine and execute our overall go-to-market playbook for success in both the commercial and industrial (C&I) and the small front-of-meter (FTM) battery energy storage markets.

We define success as a steady march towards BESS market share leadership, leveraging our patented technology and the unique advantages that come with being an Australian company.

Our target candidate will have proven success in a similar business development role, with demonstrated experience in building strategic relationships, developing complex projects, and consistently getting the job done in a competitive market. They should be ready and able to help us build Relectrify's brand as the future of battery energy storage in Australia.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading the market rollout of our new AC1 battery energy storage system for the Australian market, which is well underway, and which will benefit from unique funding mechanisms that benefit 'early adopter' customers.

  • Refining our strategy and market positioning, building partnerships with established players in the market who can both benefit from and contribute to our success.

  • Building and converting a pipeline of opportunities for the AC1 (and future products) with leading renewable energy developers, power utilities, and large C&I organisations.

  • Selling our unique value proposition during complex technical and commercial procurement processes to win against established conventional BESS competitors.

  • Ensuring that we deliver on our promise of 'More energy', working with leadership to build our project delivery, asset operations and customer success capabilities.

  • Thinking critically (and creatively, we hope) to identify better ways to deliver value to customers, including novel project finance and energy services models that leverage our unique technology advantages to give customers better financial returns from storage.

  • Work with our Marcomm team to define, manage, and execute the right marketing plan for Australia (brand building and demand generation).

  • Work closely with our Product team to ensure that the needs of the Australian customer are fully considered within our product roadmap.

Requirements

Must-have experience

Applicants must have full working rights in Australia and be willing to undergo pre-employment background checks (i.e. working rights, criminal history, and employment references).

  • Demonstrated experience in renewable energy development (ideally in BESS) and/or significant experience in selling and delivering complex C&I energy projects.

  • A deep understanding of the practicalities of renewable energy projects from the perspective of a developer, a financier/owner, a C&I business or an OEM (PV or BESS).

  • Proven ability to get jobs done – achieving ambitious objectives, closing complex deals, and a track record of hitting business development targets.

  • Experience working in a small team where resourcefulness and problem-solving have been paramount (e.g. within startup / scaleup situations, or as part of a small local team within a large overseas firm).

  • A strong existing network in the Australian renewable energy ecosystem.

Location

The position offers the flexibility of hybrid work between your home and our Melbourne office. Domestic travel will be required from time to time.
