What's the role?

Are you ready to break big news and tell the stories that matter? The Australian is looking for a creative and driven News Producer to join our specialist homepage and app team.

In this dynamic and exciting role, you'll be at the heart of our newsroom operations and immersed in the daily news cycle to produce, optimise and amplify the country's best journalism - from agenda-setting exclusives to longform features, investigations, opinion and rolling live coverage.

Working closely with our news desk, Vision & Audience teams, you'll play a key role in growing The Australian's reach, impact and delivering exceptional reader experiences across all our digital platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

● Shape the News: Take charge of The Australian's homepage, app, notifications and newsletters to publish and curate journalism that keeps readers informed, engaged, and coming back for more.

● Drive Audience Growth: Collaborate with the news desk, vision, graphics and

audience teams on strategies and formats that expand our reach and deepen

our connection with our subscribers.

● Optimise User Experience: Ensure our digital platforms are resonant visually compelling and optimised for impact.

● React to Breaking News: Be the first to respond to breaking news, updating our platforms with timely and accurate coverage that keeps readers in the know.

● Leverage Data Insights: Dive into analytics to uncover audience trends and content performance, using insights to shape editorial decisions.

● Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with editorial, design, and technical teams to bring our journalism to life and ensure seamless integration across platforms.

● Innovate and Inspire: Stay ahead of the curve, sharpen your storytelling and audience growth skills and bring fresh ideas to the table, driving innovation and elevating The Australian's digital presence.

Who are you?

● A proven track record in journalism, digital production, content management, or a similar role within a media organisation.

● A deep understanding of audience behaviour, engagement strategies and experience with analytics tools.

● Exceptional editorial judgement and an eye for detail.

● The ability to thrive under pressure and deliver results in fast-paced, breaking- news environments.

● Proficiency in CMS platforms and an early-adoption attitude

● Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

● A passion for journalism and a drive to deliver world-class content to readers.

● Flexibility to cover different shift patters

● Experience in a subscription environment an advantage
