Senior Project Manager

What's the role?

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of a major technology initiative for our Editorial and Newsrooms. As an integral member of Technology, Data and Digital (TDD), you will drive delivery through the entire project lifecycle and work closely with key stakeholders to introduce critical new capabilities, optimise workflows and improve efficiencies. The successful candidate must possess rigorous attention to detail and a proven track record navigating dynamic stakeholder environments and driving delivery through to completion.

In this role you will:

  • Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders
  • Create and execute detailed project plans, including at the activity/task level and drive

    delivery to agreed timelines
  • Define and track project milestones while developing, maintaining, and reporting on an

    integrated delivery plan
  • Manage complex stakeholder relationships including C-suite, vendors and Newsroom/Editorial environments
  • Ensure project meets success parameters and ROI targets stated in the business case
  • Establish governance structures and ensure compliance with PMO standards
  • Identify and escalate risks and issues to the appropriate forums with proposed

    mitigation/treatment strategies
  • Understand technical dependencies, functional requirements, risks, and communicate

    effectively with technical teams (including architects, business analysts, developers and

    testers)

Who are you?

  • You are a highly motivated self-starter with 10+ years of experience (as a Senior PM) delivering technology and digital projects in a dynamic environment
  • You have a track record of successfully delivering deadline focused projects within a complex environment covering scope, scheduling and budget control
  • You have experience in planning procurement related activities, including vendor engagement, creation of RFI / RFPs, contracts and vendor SLAs
  • You have a thorough understanding of technology concepts (to manage technical teams effectively), project management principles and reporting
  • You have strong verbal and written communication skills and you use tools to discover and communicate key insights into meaningful and visual reports
  • You build strong and positive relationships across teams and with stakeholders at all levels; and possess demonstrable experience of managing C-Suite senior level stakeholders
  • You have strong leadership skills with experience in directing technical teams including business analysts, engineers, developers and testers
  • Experience with newsroom and digital publishing systems is preferred, but not essential
