About School Infrastructure

School Infrastructure has recently undergone a significant transformation, creating exciting opportunities within our executive leadership team.

About the role

The Executive Director, Strategic Infrastructure Services, is responsible for working across government to determine the strategies required to meet enrolment demand across the State.

As a key advisor to the Deputy Secretary, School Infrastructure, this critical role enables the efficient and effective delivery of school infrastructure projects to meet the needs of a growing population and support the achievement of outcomes under the Department's Plan for NSW Public Education.

The role requires knowing where and when infrastructure services are required to support public education, by understanding community, economics, government and applying this awareness to short term and long-term planning.

The role demands knowledge and understanding of what is needed at the school level, the ability to engage with multiple stakeholders across government and the complexities of working with large scale projects and managing budget pressures.

About you

You are a strategic and forward-thinking leader with a deep understanding of educational infrastructure development and planning. With experience leading large-scale teams and projects, you possess highly developed influencing and stakeholder engagement skills to effectively negotiate with senior stakeholders and partners within and outside the Department.

You will foster a culture of high performance and collaboration with view of continuous improvement while demonstrating sound time, people, financial and risk management.

As a leader you will join an executive team focused on driving improved ways of working to deliver meaningful and long-lasting impact. You will be collaborative, courageous, agile, and disciplined about delivering outcomes for the students of NSW.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Expertise as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in infrastructure and a proven track record in planning major projects within large, complex environments.
  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as education, business, management, social sciences or communications, and/or equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • Hold a valid clearance to work with children (Working with Children Check).
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
  • Demonstrated extensive experience at a senior level in the management in a large complex organisation.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

As a condition of employment, successful candidates who have not previously worked for the department will be required to provide a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) Clearance number. This option would allow the WWCC to naturally expire without further communication needed with the employee. The employer obligations under the WWCC would apply for duration of the WWCC's validity (up to 5 years).
