What is the role?
We are currently looking for an experienced Sous Chef to join our team and assist our Head Chef in leading our kitchen team at Engadine Tavern.
As Sous Chef you will be responsible for supporting the Head Chef and ensuring the kitchen team deliver exceptional food to our customers, including but not limited to:
- Managing daily food preparation and service.
- Maintaining expected quality of food.
- Monitoring food safety requirements.
- Day to day operation of a busy kitchen.
- Ensure efficiency, quality and time management.
- Ordering, stock control and budgets.
- Assist Head Chef with menu development.
- Manage and train kitchen staff.
- Strong knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) and HACCP
What is needed to be successful in this role?
- Chef's trade qualification with experience in a similar role
- Able to work a rotating roster across Monday to Sunday including weekends, nights and public holidays
- The ability to excel under pressure in a high-volume environment with great problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail to plating presentation
- Great teamwork and communication skills
- A desire to mentor and train other kitchen staff to improve their skills
- Must reside and hold a valid working visa in Australia. Sponsorship is not available.
