The Role

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager for one of our clients based on the northside of Brisbane. This is a leadership role overseeing daily production and logistics at their nursery site.

While a background in horticulture or agriculture (with a degree or diploma in the field) would be highly regarded, it is not essential. Candidates with strong experience in bulk logistics or warehouse management are also encouraged to apply, as these skills are highly transferable to the role.

The Operations Manager will be responsible for ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, leading staff, managing production and inventory, and driving continuous improvement across efficiency, productivity, and safety.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee daily operations at the site
  • Manage inventory, equipment, and resources effectively
  • Work hands-on with the team
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve productivity, efficiency, and quality
  • Lead, mentor, and support staff to achieve operational goals
  • Ensure activities are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Oversee compliance with all safety protocols and procedures
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, clients, and stakeholders
  • Identify and resolve issues quickly and effectively

The Candidate

  • Degree/Diploma in Horticulture, Agriculture, or related field (ideal but not essential)
  • OR proven background in bulk logistics or warehouse operations management
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate teams
  • Excellent organisational, planning, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Solid knowledge of safety standards and procedures
