About the Parliamentary Counsel's Office (PCO)

The Parliamentary Counsel's Office (PCO) is
headed by the Parliamentary Counsel and is a Public Service executive agency
related to The Cabinet Office under the Government Sector Employment Act
2013.

What we do

We are responsible for drafting and
providing access to most of the legislation for New South Wales. We draft all
Bills for Acts required for introduction into Parliament. We also draft a wide
range of statutory instruments, including regulations, rules, proclamations,
orders and environmental planning instruments (EPIs).  For more

About the role

The Leader, Legislation Editing and
Parliament plays an important hands-on role in editing and supporting the
production of bills and legislation. The role works in collaboration with the
Manager, Legislation Editing and Parliament and the Deputy Parliamentary
Counsel's to manage and develop the Editing and Parliament team, by managing
operational workflow and work processes efficiently and effectively to deliver
legislative and support to Parliament, the Executive Council and other key
stakeholders.

Key knowledge and experience:

  • Knowledge of parliamentary processes and related legislation-making procedures.
  • Knowledge and experience in legislative concepts, editing and standards, maintaining up-to-date versions of legislation and legislative access operations.
  • Knowledge of the software applications typically used for legislative production and access, preferably SGML/XML

Essential requirements:

Willingness and
ability to be on call as required outside of normal working hours.
