About us
The Department of the Legislative Assembly provides impartial advice, support and information to the House and its committees, and to Members. We also provide community access to the Legislative Assembly and its proceedings so the people of NSW can participate in Parliament.
Our vision is to be leaders in the delivery of parliamentary democracy and community engagement, guided by our three organisational values of integrity, excellence, and respect.
The Legislative Assembly has a positive, supportive work culture and is proud of its history as part of the first Parliament of Australia. You will be working in an organisation which is committed to providing excellent advice and support to all Members of the Legislative to enable them to fulfil their roles as elected representatives of the people of New South Wales. The 2024 People Matter Survey found that 91% of employees would recommend the Legislative Assembly as a great place to work.
The House and Procedure Unit
The House and Procedure business unit has three core functions including supporting the day-to-day operations of the sittings of the Legislative Assembly, providing advice on parliamentary law, procedure and practice to Members of the Legislative Assembly and other stakeholders, and providing support to Members of the Legislative Assembly, their staff, and visitors to Parliament House.
About the position
Join the Department of the Legislative Assembly as a Chamber Supervisor Clerk Grade 5/6 and play a vital role in supporting the parliamentary functions that uphold our democratic process.
As part of a dedicated team, you will assist Members, Committees, and the Department to fulfil their parliamentary duties both inside Parliament and within electorates.
As Chamber Supervisor you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations in the Legislative
Assembly Chamber. This includes supervising staff who support the sittings of the House, conduct tours, and deliver front-of-house services. Key responsibilities include rostering, allocating duties, maintaining and reporting data and representing the team in interdepartmental meetings. Strong interpersonal, customer service and communication skills are essential for liaising with a range of internal and external stakeholders to support the effective coordination of a range of events. The role also demands sound administrative and organisational skills to manage competing priorities, adapt to a dynamic environment and meet deadlines.
