The Role
We are currently seeking Support Workers to join our organisation , jobs available in Laurieton area . Working as part of a person-centered team and individually, you will be expected to provide a range of supports including group, program and individual activities aimed at supporting and assisting vulnerable persons within our community and especially those with a disability in their living and/or community environment, and to carry out other lawful duties and directions (as per individual duty roster).
In the role of a support worker, you will also be expected to work within and respect the professional boundaries of Many Rivers Support Services, as outlined within the relevant policies and procedures, as well as the individually signed professional boundaries document.
Key responsibilities
- Providing professional, person-centred support tailored to each individual. Staying aware of, and responsive to, the evolving needs of those we support;
- Providing support towards a person's individual goals, and with regards to their aspirations, beliefs, family situation, culture, age, sexual identity, gender, relationship status, disability type and language in accordance with the values of Many Rivers Support Services;
- Recognising and nurturing individual and family relationships and connections to the community;
- Encouraging people with a disability to develop and maintain life skills, and to actively and meaningfully engage with and participant in the community;
- Creating opportunities for people with a disability to connect with others and develop positive friendships over time;
- Providing support with personal care to people with a disability as required;
- Administration of medication in accordance with the organisations medication management policy and practice;
- Acting as a good social role model in terms of appearance, attitude, behaviour and manners;
- Completing and submitting any required documentation during your shift;
- Having a positive approach to the workplace, while recognising that flexible hours are often an essential part of this role;
- Remember to check email and phone messages on a regular basis, as they are an integral part of your role.
What we're looking for
- Valid and Current NSW Driver's Licence
- Certificate III in Disability Services or Equivalent
- Senior First Aid Certificate and CPR Certificate (if not covered in Senior First Aid Certificate) - or willingness to obtain
- Experience in Manual Handling
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Working With Children Check – or willingness to obtain
- Caring and Compassionate
- Good Communicator and Listener
- Desire to grow in your role
