About the Role

Our client, a leading automotive organisation in Australia, is seeking an experienced In-house Legal Counsel / Senior Legal Counsel to provide strategic, commercially focused legal advice to the Executive team. This role covers complex legal, governance, and compliance matters across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise senior leadership on commercial contracts, franchising, competition and consumer law, privacy, intellectual property, employment, and corporate governance.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex agreements, balancing commercial outcomes with risk management.
  • Lead compliance and governance frameworks in line with ACL, Franchising Code, Privacy Act, and other legislation.
  • Manage disputes, regulatory inquiries, and litigation, liaising with external counsel when required.
  • Deliver legal and compliance training to foster awareness and accountability.
  • Support strategic initiatives, acquisitions, partnerships, and cross-border activities.

About You

  • Proven legal experience in the Australian automotive industry (in-house preferred).
  • Strong commercial acumen and practical, solution-focused advice.
  • Expertise in contracts, compliance, and regulatory matters.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
