Chef / Kitchen Manager Wanted – James Street, New Farm / Fortitude Valley based

We're on the lookout for an experienced, creative Chef or Kitchen Manager to take charge of the kitchen at our busy, stylish cocktail bar & restaurant on James Street, New Farm.

This is a hands-on, autonomous role, in a high-energy venue that values creativity, consistency and a strong sense of ownership. We're after someone who wants to run their own kitchen, knows how to create a modern, crave-worthy bar food and sharing style menu, while working together with the front of house team, delivering cool yet simple food, a functions and events canape style menu and some food production. All without the burnout. Basically, run your own kitchen. Design bold bar snacks, canapes and a sharing style menu. Enjoy.

We're all about seasonal menus, bold flavours, and high-volume service. Our cocktail bar is known for its vibe, late nights, and standout food that pairs perfectly with a Negroni, a Margarita, a glass of wine or a simple beer. We cater to a loyal local crowd, with a weekend buzzing vibe and the occasional private function, with the kitchen being central to it all.

This is your kitchen. You'll take full ownership, from service to creative direction, while working with a chilled and passionate front-of-house team to deliver consistent, high-quality results.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Lead day-to-day kitchen operations with full autonomy
  • Design and execute trendy, high-impact bar snack & sharing menus
  • Coordinate functions, private events and event catering
  • Manage prep and production for service
  • Maintain food quality, consistency and kitchen cleanliness
  • Handle ordering, stock control & COG's

You're a self motivated and driven starter who can balance creativity with consistency and enjoy working independently. You'll have:

  • 3+ years experience in a Senior Chef / Kitchen Manager role
  • Confidence in designing trendy, modern bar menus
  • Experience in simple yet cool canapes for events & functions
  • Solid production/prep systems
  • Excellent communication and organisation
  • Food Safety Supervisor cert required
