The Role
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Coordinator - Domestic Violence (DFV) and Family and Relationship Services (FaRS) to lead our dedicated team supporting children, young people, adults, and families. In this pivotal leadership role, you will oversee the delivery of integrated, client-centred services including domestic and family violence programs, individual, couples and children's counselling, post-separation support, and therapeutic group work. You will ensure high standards of clinical practice, compliance, risk management whilst also promoting staff wellbeing and development and fostering strong partnerships across the local government and community sector.
This role also oversees specific programs that co-locate and partner with the Queensland Police Service (Embedded Worker and PRADO programs).
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, supervision, and support to a multidisciplinary team delivering crisis, counselling, and outreach services.
- Coordinate service delivery and ensure compliance with complex state and federally funded programs.
- Implement and promote best-practice frameworks in relation to Domestic and Family Violence, Trauma Informed Practice, Family Systems and other therapeutic interventions.
- Deliver and oversee brief, solution-focused counselling for individuals, couples, and families.
- Facilitate and support the delivery of psycho-educational group programs.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with the Queensland Police Service and other key stakeholders and partner agencies.
- Contribute to continuous improvement, action learning, and change management across the service.
- Prepare high-quality reports, monitor data and performance outcomes, and ensure program accountability.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, or Counselling, and eligibility or membership with a relevant professional association (AASW, APA, PACFA).
Minimum 3 years' experience in a related field, ideally encompassing:
Trauma Informed Practice
- High-risk and crisis intervention, specifically in relation to domestic and family violence and child protection
- Family Systems principles and practices
- Post-Separation support and family law matters
Group facilitation and psychoeducation
Demonstrated understanding of the Domestic and Family Violence Act, Child Protection Act, and Family Law Act.
- Proven experience in human resource management, supervision, and staff wellbeing support.
- Strong organisational, analytical, and change management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build constructive relationships with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
- Commitment to the ethos of the Catholic Church and the principles of Catholic Social Teaching.
Essential Requirements:
- Current Driver's Licence
- Current or eligible QLD Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
- Evidence of Australian Work Rights (citizenship or visa)
- Current (within 3 months) Australian Federal Police Criminal History Check, or willingness to obtain
- Signed Statutory Declaration confirming no criminal offences (Australia and overseas)
