About the Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Coordinator RoleWe are seeking an organised and meticulous HSEQ Coordinator to join our Melbourne team. This newly created role is responsible for the implementation, oversight, and continual improvement of our health, safety, environment and quality management systems across a diverse range of construction and refurbishment projects. Reporting to the HSEQ Manager, you will contribute to our commitment to industry-leading safety, sustainability, and quality outcomes, fostering a culture where everyone can thrive.
HSEQ Coordinator Responsibilities – Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Compliance- Coordinate and support the implementation and ongoing improvement of HSEQ management systems in line with Australian standards, client requirements and company policies.
- Conduct site inspections and audits to identify hazards, non-conformances and opportunities for improvement.
- Assist project teams in risk assessments, safe work method statements (SWMS) and incident investigations.
- Maintain accurate HSEQ documentation, including registers, training records, and compliance evidence.
- Facilitate toolbox talks, inductions and HSEQ training for staff and subcontractors.
- Support initiatives to promote environmental sustainability and resource efficiency on projects.
- Contribute to the preparation and submission of reports and improvement plans to leadership.
- Engage positively with site teams, clients, and suppliers to foster a culture of safety, environmental care and continuous improvement.
- Minimum 2 years' experience coordinating or supporting health, safety, environment, and/or quality (HSEQ) functions in the construction or related industries.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or recognised certifications in Work Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Quality Management or similar disciplines (desirable but not essential).
- Strong knowledge of Australian HSEQ legislation, codes of practice and ISO standards (45001, 9001,
- Proactive approach and effective communication skills, with the confidence to provide guidance at all levels of the business.
- Demonstrated experience in incident reporting, risk management, and driving positive HSEQ outcomes.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and comfortable adopting new digital systems.
- Organised, analytical, and attentive to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
