About the Position
This is an Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander identified position which is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld).
Bond University is seeking a strategic and visionary Indigenous leader to join us as Manager, Nyombil Centre – our dedicated cultural and support hub for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
Established in 2012, the Nyombil Centre provides a culturally safe and welcoming space that empowers students throughout their university journey – from recruitment and transition to academic success, graduation, and beyond. The Centre plays a vital role in fostering community, strengthening cultural identity and engagement, and cross-cultural learning across the University.
As Manager, you will provide both strategic direction and operational leadership, ensuring the Centre's programs and services remain responsive to the aspirations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and the wider community. You will lead initiatives that strengthen Indigenous student outcomes, guide a high-performing team, and champion Bond's commitment to reconciliation and educational equity as a national leader in Indigenous higher education.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide strategic leadership and vision for the Nyombil Centre's ongoing development and impact
- Manage and empower a dynamic team of Indigenous support staff and academic advisors
- Drive student support strategies focused on recruitment, retention, and success
- Collaborate across the University to embed culturally informed and inclusive practices
- Oversee ISSP funding, Indigenous scholarship programs, and internal/external reporting
- Represent Bond in community engagement and school outreach initiatives
This senior role offers visibility across the University and wider community, contributing directly to Bond's Indigenous strategy, reconciliation goals, and long-term educational equity outcomes.
About the Person
- This identified position is open to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants who are dedicated to advancing Indigenous student success through culturally informed leadership, strategic collaboration, innovation, and inclusive support services.
- The ideal candidate will bring:
- A completed tertiary qualification.
- Postgraduate qualifications (or progress towards them) and at least five years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated management and strategic leadership expertise.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead and collaborate across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Proven experience supporting Indigenous student success through transition strategies, case management, and outreach programs.
- High-level administrative and digital proficiency.
- A commitment to delivering inclusive, high-quality services that empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
A current Blue Card is required for this role.
Salary details
The salary for the position ranges from $112,811.36 to $129,300.65 per annum, plus 12% superannuation and will be commensurate with skills, qualification and experience.
