About the role

The Commercial Stakeholder Manager will play a key role in the delivery of the Restoring Murray Waterways (RMW) Project to ensure time, cost, quality, safety and environmental targets are met. The role supports the achievement of MILs strategy in relation to water-based projects and includes the development of concepts, contracts/ agreements and submissions among other items for new projects moving forward.

The Commercial Stakeholder Manager is responsible for leading and developing relationships with communities affected by proposed projects, First Nations people, environmental water managers and business partners and ensures that all parties are well-informed, actively involved and confident in the project's outcomes.

Reporting to the General Manager Corporate Strategy and working in close collaboration with technical, operational, and communications teams, this position will build and maintain strong relationships, addressing stakeholder concerns, fostering transparency, commitment and community support for the RMW project and future opportunities.

This Deniliquin based position supervises several Project Support Officers, and requires the ability to work with, learn from and foster positive relationships with local First Nations people and local/ regional environmental water managers. This is an ongoing position but initially will focus on the Restoring Murray Waterways Project scheduled to finish in December 2026.

About you

  • Hold a degree/qualifications in Environmental Science, with a focus on environmental water, related discipline and/or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience with a demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with, learn from and foster positive relationships with local First Nations people, acknowledging their unique cultures, knowledge and connection to Country with sensitivity.
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience in the planning, evaluation and/or delivery of complex infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster and maintain strong business relationships and evaluate new opportunities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and manage sensitive or complex relationships.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with landholders, contractors, and technical specialists.
  • Practical understanding of agriculture and farming principles, ecology and riparian management practices.
  • Demonstrated skills with the suite of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook).
  • Current drivers' licence.
  • Willingness to travel.
