About the Role
We are seeking a highly adaptable, proactive, and detail-oriented Practice Assistant to join our Melbourne Mergers & Acquisitions group. This is a role for someone who thrives on variety - you'll work seamlessly across multiple sub-practice groups within the M&A space, supporting various Partners and their teams, stepping in where coverage is needed, and switching gears with ease as priorities shift.
This position is being offered on a full-time, 12-month contract basis and offers the chance to take initiative and anticipate the needs of the Partners and their teams, leveraging your exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail to stay one step ahead.
The key responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to the following:
- Building and maintaining client and internal relationships
- Arranging internal and external meetings, including diary management
- Organising and overseeing travel arrangements (both domestic and international)
- Managing billing, expense management and reporting processes
- Matter management including opening and closing files, archiving, electronic filing, and physical filing
- Other general administrative tasks as required
About You
- Minimum of 5 years in a legal support role (such as Legal Assistant, Practice Assistant, Legal Executive or Legal Secretary)
- Sound knowledge of the monthly billing process in a legal environment - experience with Elite is highly regarded
- Ability to handle competing priorities
- Typing speed of 70+ wpm
- Advanced knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to analyse, problem solve and apply appropriate use of judgement
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, choosing an appropriate style for their audience
- Strong attention to detail
- Well-developed interpersonal skills
