Agnico Eagle are seeking a Environment Officer to work at their Fosterville Gold Mine in Victoria. The company owns and operates the Fosterville Gold Mine (FGM), which is located on Dja Dja Wurrung Country, approximately 20 kilometres east of Bendigo in Central Victoria. Not only is Bendigo on Victoria's tourist map, but it's also located a comfortable driving distance from other major attractions, including Melbourne city, the Great Ocean Road, Grampians, and the Murray River.
ENVIRONMENT OFFICER (12 months Fixed Term)
We are recruiting on a fixed term basis, the role of Environment Officer. The primary purpose of this position is to assist with the implementation of FGM's environmental management plan to ensure that all operational activities comply with relevant legislative and corporate environmental conditions, standards and commitments.
Reporting to the Senior Environment & Community Advisor, your duties will include:
- Contribute to the implementation and continual improvement of the Integrated Management System
- Coordinate and conduct routine environmental monitoring in accordance with the environmental monitoring schedule.
- Maintain the integrity of environmental monitoring databases.
- Analyze data and assist with the preparation of internal and external reports.
- Assist with incident investigation, response and reporting.
- Attend and contribute to the planning of ERC meetings, landholder meetings and associated events/activities.
- Assist with community complaint/enquiry investigation and response.
- Coordinate various waste removal contractors
You should possess the following:
- Degree in Environmental Science or equivalent
- Experience in an environmental role – minimum 2-3 years.
- A valid manual drivers licence
- Experience in the mining industry (preferred).
- Sound knowledge of environmental monitoring methods and environmental management systems and familiarity with environmental monitoring tasks.
- Experience in report preparation and review, data entry and database management
- Experience with database management and/or data entryand review.
You have:
- Self-motivation and enthusiasm with a positive and friendly personality.
- Sound communication and people skills.
- Strong organisational skills, including an ability to multi-task, manage priorities and workload.
- Ability to follow established procedures and methodologies, ensuring consistency and reliability in task execution.
The roster for this residential position will be Monday – Friday (5/2) with the possibility to accommodate a flexible work roster (5/2:4/3) once you settle into the role.
