About the Role:
Penrite is seeking a Key Account Manager to join our Sales & Marketing team, playing a key role in driving business development and managing major customer accounts. This position will report to the Head of Strategy & Customer Engagement and be an in-office role. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing key customer relationships, executing strategic initiatives, and identifying opportunities to grow revenue across Penrite's core markets.
As a Key Account Manager, you will oversee the end-to-end management of major accounts, ensuring service excellence, building long-term relationships, and driving both customer satisfaction and business growth. You will work closely with internal teams to ensure smooth delivery of Penrite's products and services while focusing on expanding market share and achieving strategic sales objectives.
This role requires a dynamic, proactive individual with a strong ability to manage key accounts, develop strategic growth plans, and negotiate agreements. Regular travel and flexibility to work outside of standard hours are required.
Key Responsibilities:
Account Management:
Serve as the primary point of contact for major key accounts.
- Manage day-to-day operations including order management, issue resolution, and service delivery.
- Monitor account performance and ensure contractual obligations are met.
- Conduct regular account reviews and performance reporting.
- Prepare and deliver range review recommendations.
- Manage internal and external stakeholders servicing the major accounts.
Strategic Growth & Business Development:
Develop and execute account strategies to drive revenue growth and customer retention.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within existing accounts and adjacent markets.
- Collaborate with marketing and category teams to tailor solutions that meet customer needs.
- Lead negotiations for renewals, pricing, and service agreements.
Customer Engagement & Relationship Building:
Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with decision-makers and influencers.
- Understand customer business models, challenges, and goals to provide value-added insights.
- Facilitate customer feedback loops to inform product development and service improvements.
Market Intelligence & Reporting:
Stay informed on industry trends, competitor activity, and market dynamics.
- Provide regular updates and forecasts to internal stakeholders.
- Use sales reporting tools to track account performance, sales trends, opportunities, and pipeline development.
Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S):
Actively participate in Penrite's health and safety programs.
- Ensure compliance with OH&S policies and report any accidents or incidents.
Compliance with Policies and Procedures:
Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Perform duties consistent with training and skill level.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
- Proven experience in key account management, preferably in the automotive sector.
- Strong commercial acumen with excellent negotiation and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic account plans.
- Ability to build strong relationships in the trade and retail markets.
- Experience managing national/key accounts with a focus on customer retention and growth.
- Ability to analyse product offerings and upsell product range to all customers.
- Strong product knowledge in lubricants.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and sales reporting tools.
- Strong problem-solving and business evaluation skills.
What We're Looking For:
- 5+ years' experience in key account management or business development, ideally within automotive or lubricants.
- Strong track record in managing large accounts and delivering growth.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships and influence at all levels.
- Ability to work autonomously and travel regularly for customer meetings and events.
- Full Australian work rights and a current driver's licence.
